A print-only driver may leave out the scan utility. Check whether your exact printer scans and whether the maker offers a separate scan app or full software for your OS.
Do you need the maker utility?
Try the built-in OS scan function first. If it meets your needs, installing another package may add no value. If duplex scanning, destination shortcuts or OCR are missing, read the manufacturer's package descriptions.
Use the correct download
Open the exact-model support page and select the current Windows or macOS version. A package for a nearby model or older OS may install a printer but fail to register the scanner.
After installation
Restart the app if instructed and scan a small page. If the utility still cannot find the device, test the local USB or LAN route rather than reinstalling repeatedly.
