Choose what is failing, then use the result to separate device, network, queue and driver problems. This tool makes no remote diagnosis and stores nothing on a server.
Describe the problem
How the result is chosen
The tool uses your symptom and connection type to select a conservative first check and a matching guide. It does not inspect your printer, read your network, install software or confirm that a part is needed. If a printer displays a code, compare it with the exact model's documented error list.
Stop if you see smoke, overheating, exposed wiring, toner leakage or a procedure that requires opening a service-only area. Use official service in those cases.
How to interpret the first test
A page generated by the printer itself bypasses the computer and print driver. If it prints correctly but a Windows job does not, inspect the queue, selected printer and connection next. If the device cannot print its own page, read the on-device message and exact model manual before changing the computer.
The result is a likely branch, not a repair diagnosis. An Ethernet printer has its own IP address; a USB printer shared from another PC depends on that host computer. A low toner warning can mean “prepare a spare,” while “Replace Toner” may call for a model-specific replacement. These distinctions decide which guide to open.
| What you observed | First area to investigate | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Printer test page works; PC job fails | Queue, selected printer, network or driver | Buying toner immediately |
| Printer test page fails | On-device message, paper and supplies | Repeated driver reinstall |
| Wi-Fi joins router; PC cannot find it | Same LAN, guest isolation and discovery | Resetting a working Wi-Fi password |
