Print Job Stuck in Queue: Diagnose Before Clearing

A stuck job can block later documents. Identify whether one document, the whole queue or the printer is failing before deleting every pending job.

Look at the queue

Open Printers & scanners → your printer → Open print queue. Check whether the printer is paused or offline and whether one document shows an error. If only one file is stuck, cancel that file and try a small test document.

Escalate carefully

If canceling does not clear the queue, Microsoft suggests restarting Print Spooler. That can affect all queued jobs on the computer. Clearing files in the spool folder is a later step and discards pending work; never do it on a shared server without permission.

Find the underlying cause

After the queue clears, print a Windows test page. If it sticks again, check printer power, an on-device error, network address and the correct driver. Repeatedly deleting jobs will not fix a disconnected printer.
