Printer Not Feeding Paper: Tray and Roller Checks

If the printer runs but no sheet enters, check the paper source, stack and guides before assuming a broken roller. A driver may be requesting the wrong tray.

Confirm the chosen tray

Compare the printer's panel setting with the application's paper source and size. Manual feed selected in a driver can stop a printer from drawing from the main tray. Try a built-in test page to remove the computer from the chain.

Load a test stack

Use fresh, uncurled paper supported by the model. Remove an overfilled stack, tap edges square and set guides snugly. Very glossy, thick or damp paper may require a different tray or be unsupported.

When to inspect rollers

Follow the manufacturer's user-maintenance instructions only. A printer that repeatedly fails with standard paper after a correct reload may need service; don't force feed mechanisms or apply household solvents.
