Toner contains print material; the drum is a separate imaging component on many laser printers. A “Replace Toner” message does not tell you to replace the drum.
Read the exact message
On models with separate units, toner-low, replace-toner and drum-end messages refer to different components. Match the displayed wording to the exact model manual.
Check the part number
For example, Brother TN830 is toner and DR830 is a drum unit in official compatible-products data. Those numbers do not apply to every Brother printer. Search by complete model before ordering.
Before replacing
Follow the manufacturer's user-accessible procedure. Do not reset a drum counter to dismiss a toner warning, and do not touch the drum surface.
