An ink-level warning is an estimate or device status, not a visual measurement of every usable drop. Read the exact message and print quality before attempting a reset or replacement.
Identify the warning
“Ink low,” “replace cartridge” and “cartridge not recognized” mean different things. A refill or cartridge moved from another printer may not update the printer's level estimate. Follow the exact model's manufacturer instructions.
Check whether printing still works
Print a short test page if the printer allows it and note any missing color or streaks. If the maker says the warning is advisory, prepare the correct part rather than replacing it immediately. If printing is blocked, read the exact code.
Avoid an unsafe reset
Do not install unofficial firmware, bypass a cartridge chip or keep printing through a damage warning. Match the US OEM part number and subscription conditions before ordering another cartridge.
